|Making Dreams Come True! Foster parents can turn tragedy into beautiful dreams for thousands of Southland babies and children. These children are all victims; victims of their mother's prenatal drug abuse, victims of physical or sexual abuse, defenseless victims of the adults in their lives.
How Can I Help? As a loving foster parent, you can give traumatized children the love and security they might otherwise never know. The major qualification for becoming a foster parent is willingness to open your heart and home to children needing care.
The Children. Foster children can range in age from newborns to 21 years. They are all dependents of the court and need the love and security of a family home.
Who Can Be a Foster Parent? Any qualified person at least 21 years of age Single individuals as well as couples Individuals of every income range Apartment renters or home owners English or Spanish speaking families
What is the Cost? All training for certification is provided free by ABC Foster Family Agency. After certification support, education and assessment are provided as an ongoing service. Foster parents receive $896.00 - $1072.00 per month for each child. An initial clothing allowance may be provided. Medical and dental needs are provided through Medi-Cal. Being a foster parent is not easy. The children can be challenging. Goodbyes are tearful, and the families stories will tug at your heart. But you will experience profound joy at having a part in making a child's dream come true.
ABC-Foster Family Agency (ABC-FFA) is a private, non-profit community service agency dedicated to improving the quality of life for abused, abandoned, and neglected babies, toddlers, preschool and school-aged children. Foster parents certified by ABC Foster Family Agency are provided with valuable support and resource information. Our Social Workers are available for assistance. ABC-FFA Social Workers visit each Foster Child in the home at least 3 times per month. ABC-FFA provides monthly trainings on topics relevant and crucial to foster care. ABC-FFA is dedicated to making families successful.
